In Mahō, the great factions —Umbramancers, Luminaries, Warlords, and Wildwardens— compete for dominance in a world where wisdom, represented by Grimoires, is the key to recruiting powerful Lorekeepers, Fatebinders, and Guildforts. While managing your strategic resources, you will uncover hidden treasures that can alter the course of the game. Every decision is crucial in this battle for magical supremacy.

In a Nutshell
Your Objective:

Reduce your opponent's' health to 0 while building a powerful deck. Use Grimoires to recruit allies and unleash chaos with powerful strategies. Only the wisest will prevail!

Game Mechanics

Are you ready to write your destiny? Recruit allies, summon power, and conquer the battlefield. Knowledge is your most powerful weapon!

Economy:
  • Novice Grimoires: Provide 1 point of Wisdom.

  • Elder Grimoires: Provide 2 points of Wisdom.

  • Corrupted Grimoires: Provide 2 points of Wisdom, but with narrative risks.

How to Win:
  • Victory: Be the last player standing, reducing your opponents' health to 0.

  • Defeat: If your health drops to 0, you are eliminated from the game.

Turn Phases:
  • Buy Phase: Players use Grimoires to recruit cards from the Guildhall.

  • Battle Phase: Players attack or defend using their active cards.

  • Discard Phase: Used cards are discarded, and new cards are drawn.

Seekers

Neutral starting cards for all players.

Lorekeepers
Fatebinders

Cards with unique abilities that do not remain on the board.

Permanent units with strategic abilities.

Treasures
Guildforts
Wisdom

Fortresses with taunt that protect the player.

Special cards with powerful effects, some playable outside of the turn.

Magic grimoires that serve as an economy to recruit allies.

Recommended Strategies

The game scales well from 2 to 4 players by adjusting starting health points and the pace of recruited cards.
